What's new in Opentra.

You depend on this software to run your MSP. So every release gets real notes — what shipped, what changed, what got fixed.

v2026.05.6 – .14
Added

Contract types built for how MSPs actually bill

Three new contract types join the lineup. Managed service agreements carry per-device lines priced from a global rate card, with a computed monthly total. Retainers track pre-purchased hours — time logged on tickets draws down the balance automatically, periods reset themselves, and a progress bar warns you before the hours run out. Software agreements bill per user, per device, or per mailbox from your own service catalogue.

Added

Know your cost, not just your price

Every device type and software service in the rate card now stores a cost alongside the rate you charge, and contract lines pick up both automatically from the catalogue. Margin on every agreement stops being a spreadsheet exercise.

Added

System health dashboard

A live health page shows the database, background worker, email pipeline, and queue status at a glance, refreshing every 30 seconds. If email intake breaks, admins get an alert in the notification bell immediately — not a surprise the next morning. A public health endpoint plugs into external uptime monitors.

Improvements and fixes (4)
  • Adding lines to a software agreement now starts from your catalogue — click a service to pre-fill description and price, or drop to a custom line
  • Bulk-add devices to an MSA, including machines not yet in the system — typed in and linked to the contract in one save, with a running monthly total
  • Server devices gained IPMI/iDRAC details (with masked password), a manufacturer service tag field, and a software-stack field
  • Device notes are edited inline on the device page — no more opening the full edit form

v2026.05.3
Added

Contracts — from draft to client sign-off

The contracts module arrives. Build a contract with line items, see MRR and status at a glance across all clients, and export a clean PDF. Then send it for approval — the client contact gets an email with the PDF attached and a branded portal link where they approve or decline, no login required. Approvals flip the contract live and record who signed and when.

Security

Security hardening pass

A sweep across the platform: locked down API endpoints behind authentication, hardened webhook and background-job access, added strict browser security headers, and tightened file-upload validation.

Improvements and fixes (2)
  • Contracts distinguish an owner (the client contact who signs) from an admin (who manages it day to day), both visible on the company page
  • Managed-service contracts can carry a separate Xero account code from one-off work

v2026.05.2
Fixed

Smarter email-to-ticket matching

Forwarded and automated emails no longer land on the wrong contact. Opentra now recognises machine-generated sender addresses and relay domains, and when a tech forwards a client email inline — even without a FW: prefix — it reads the forwarded block to attribute the ticket to the real client. Fewer misfiled tickets, less manual reassignment.

Improvements and fixes (1)
  • Device names in email subject lines now resolve to the right device, not just names in the body

v2026.05.2
Added

ScreenConnect, one click from the ticket

Tickets now show the client's machines — online or offline — straight from ConnectWise ScreenConnect, right on the ticket you're working. One click deep-links into a remote session, so there's no hunting through the ScreenConnect console to find the right machine mid-call.

Improvements and fixes (1)
  • Connect ScreenConnect in Settings with your server URL and credentials

v2026.05.1
Added

Opentra's first release

The founding release of Opentra — a PSA purpose-built for small MSPs. Out of the gate you get a ticket board with kanban and multi-party threaded conversations (client, internal, vendor, third-party all on one ticket), organizations and contacts, a dashboard, and built-in time tracking with a live timer that survives page navigation. Email-to-ticket intake via Microsoft 365 runs in the background, so client emails become tickets without anyone copy-pasting.

Improvements and fixes (3)
  • Sign in with Microsoft Entra ID or Google — no separate passwords to manage
  • AI assistant panel on every ticket, with automatic triage of incoming email tickets
  • Alert intake groundwork for RMM and monitoring integrations
