Opentra
Changelog

What's new in Opentra.

You depend on this software to run your MSP. So every release gets real notes — what shipped, what changed, what got fixed.

Fixed

Backup alerts land on the right client

Proxmox and appliance backup notifications used to spawn junk "Pve" and "Pbs" organisations because the sender name was the appliance, not the customer. Those emails now route to the correct client, so backup health shows up where it belongs and your org list stays clean.

Changed

Phone photos just work

Clients send what their phone takes, and lately that means HEIC. Opentra now auto-converts HEIC and HEIF photos to JPEG on upload, so they preview and attach like any other image. Files it genuinely cannot handle fail gracefully with a clear message instead of a broken upload.

Improvements and fixes (1)
  • Reply to a client straight from an organisation or contact activity feed, without opening the ticket first

Added

Proxmox VE monitoring, end to end

Your Proxmox hosts now report into Opentra. Node and guest health flows in via Level.io automation, and when something crosses the line (a node down, a failed backup, storage filling up) Opentra raises an alert, opens a ticket on the right client, notifies the team, and rolls it all into a daily digest. One less dashboard to babysit.

Added

A weekly ops digest that lands Monday morning

Start the week with the picture, not the inbox. A branded weekly digest email summarises what happened across the desk, and links straight to a full report page so you can drill in without hunting.

Improvements and fixes (2)
  • Per-site billing: charges can now be attributed to a specific client location, so multi-site customers see where the work actually happened
  • The weekly digest and Proxmox summaries share a single branded email shell, so every notification looks like it came from you

v2026.07.111 – .114
Changed

Cleaner reply notification emails

Reply notifications now include a quoted-message box so the recipient sees the context they're replying to — and trailing signatures are stripped from quoted history to keep threads readable. Less scrolling, fewer "what was this about?" replies.

Ticket→project links backfill the org

Vendor and RMM alert tickets often arrive with no client attached — there's nothing in the email to map them from. Now, linking one of those tickets to a project automatically attributes it to the project's client, so reporting and billing stay accurate. An existing client on a ticket is never overwritten.

Improvements and fixes (4)
  • Monthly service reports now name the devices running end-of-life operating systems, instead of just counting them
  • Managed clients’ monthly report is titled “Your Managed IT service report”; time & materials clients keep the plain version
  • Profitable time & materials clients can now be included in the automated monthly report run — by revenue threshold, top-N, or a per-client override
  • Fixed a stale worker process that kept sending the old plain-text notification emails after an update

Added

One-off, standalone invoices

You can now raise an ad-hoc invoice outside a billing run — for hardware, a one-time project, or anything that doesn't belong to a monthly cycle. Pick a client, add line items, toggle GST, and it pushes to Xero as a draft like everything else, so Xero stays the final human gate.

SLA hold that actually pauses the clock

Statuses like Waiting on Client now genuinely pause the SLA — time on hold never burns SLA budget, and resuming a ticket pushes the deadline out by exactly the held time instead of instantly re-breaching. Parked tickets get weekday reminders so slow-burn work is never forgotten.

Improvements and fixes (5)
  • Notification emails — assignments, replies, SLA breaches, quote and contract outcomes — are now branded HTML cards instead of raw text
  • Country on the Edit company dialog is a proper dropdown — no more “Aus” / “Australia” / “AU” drift breaking reports
  • Device manufacturer names are normalised on sync, with a backfill for existing devices
  • Tickets table gained an “Open” filter — everything not resolved or closed
  • Global search now matches ticket numbers, short names, and nicknames
