Introducing Opentra

11 July 2026 · Myles

Every small MSP we know runs on the same duct tape: HubSpot for the client list, a spreadsheet for time, a shared inbox for tickets, and a separate tool each for contracts and projects. Nothing talks to anything else, so you become the integration layer — re-keying the same job from email to timer to invoice, hoping nothing leaks.

The big PSAs don’t fix that. ConnectWise, Autotask and HaloPSA are built for enterprises and priced like it — per-seat billing that punishes you for hiring, and months of onboarding for features you’ll never switch on.

Opentra is the opposite bet.

It’s a single, self-hosted platform that runs the whole path a client request travels — from the first inbound email, to a ticket, to tracked time, to a contract, to an invoice in Xero. One system, purpose-built for how a ~10-tech shop with ~100 clients actually works.

What that looks like day to day

  • Email lands, a ticket opens. Microsoft 365 ingestion resolves the real client contact even from forwarded or automated mail — no copy-paste.
  • A live timer tracks every billable minute and survives page reloads, feeding per-org rates and rounding straight into billing.
  • Contracts get approved in one click on a token-based portal, with the figures frozen so they can’t shift under the client.
  • Projects live next to the work — phases, tasks, milestones and change requests, all linked to the same tickets and time.
  • Month-end billing ends in Xero, reviewed and manager-gated, billing only approved time.

And you own all of it

Opentra is self-hosted and single-tenant. Your client data stays on infrastructure you control — no multi-tenant SaaS risk, no vendor sitting on your book of business, no per-seat cost creep as you grow.

We’re opening early access to a small first cohort of owner-operator MSPs. If that’s you, request access — we’d love to have you in.
