“The consolidation thesis has won”
You have read the posts. Vendors and analysts now say it plainly: the consolidation thesis has won, so buy your RMM, PSA, security and backup as one bundle. Kaseya 365. A single “system of action.” Fewer invoices, fewer logins, one throat to choke.
Read the same articles to the end and they concede the catch. Industry checklists on vendor consolidation warn that putting everything on one platform reduces your negotiating leverage, magnifies the blast radius of an outage or breach, and makes adopting a better tool later mean disrupting your entire stack. Even the all-in-one vendors admit lock-in is the trade.
That is the fine print. Consolidation, as sold, means one vendor holds your tickets, your tools, and your book of business at the same time.
Consolidate the work, not the leverage
Here is the distinction that gets blurred on purpose. Consolidating your work is good: your team should run the whole shop from first email to paid invoice in one system, without re-keying the same job two or three times before it bills.
Consolidating your vendors onto one cloud landlord is a different decision entirely. That is where the leverage goes.
Opentra does the first without the second. It is a PSA that runs email to ticket to time to invoice in one place, self-hosted and single-tenant, on hardware you control. Your data sits on your infra, not on a multi-tenant platform sitting on your clients’ records.
We don’t do RMM. That’s the point.
Opentra does one job and does it completely. It is not an RMM, and it never will be. Your monitoring stays yours. Bring the RMM you already trust: alerts ingest into Opentra and become billable work, but the tool choice is your call, forever.
That is what keeps your leverage intact. When a better RMM ships next year, you switch it. Nothing about your PSA, your contracts, or your client book has to move. There is no bundle to unpick.
And because it is yours: what happens if Opentra disappears? Nothing stops. You own and can export your data. See how we think about that on our security page, and how we handle a move on migrate.
The flat-fee difference
Bundles also carry the per-seat tax. Opentra is flat: Community is free to self-host forever, Pro is $149/mo, Opentra Cloud is $249/mo, all with unlimited techs and client orgs. Add staff without watching the bill climb.
Consolidate the work. Keep best-of-breed everywhere else. Keep your leverage.
